Hulu Shares 9/11 Drama Series 'The Looming Tower' First Look

Hulu has a new drama series that explores the events that took place before 9/11. "The Looming Tower" is based from the book that Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lawrence Wright wrote.

The story covers the rift between the CIA and the FBI, as well as the rise of the Al-Qaeda under Osama Bin Laden, which directly affected the prevention of the 9/11 attacks. The show closely follows the I-49 Squad as they work with the counter-terrorism groups of the CIA and FBI.

The streaming platform recently released a First Look featurette to introduce the show to its subscribers. Leading the cast of "The Looming Tower" are Jeff Daniels (John O'Neill), Alec Baldwin (George Tenet), Peter Sarsgaard (Martin Schmidt), Bill Camp (Robert Chesney), Louis Cancelmi (Vince Stuart), Sullivan Jones (Floyd Bennet), Virginia Kull (Kathy Shaughnessy), Ella Rae Peck (Heather)Ella Rae Peck (Heather), Tahar Rahim (Ali Soufan), Wrenn Schmidt (Diane Marsh) and Michael Stuhlbarg (Richard Clarke).

"I wanted to understand who these people were and why they had attacked us – the most elemental question that we were all asking after 9/11," Wright said when his book came out in 2006. "I felt instinctively that it had to be about individuals, had to have certain stories that would personalize this massive tragedy and help us understand it through their lives."

"The Looming Tower" will open in 1998, after terrorists attacked the U.S. embassies in Africa. The series will close with the attack launched in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.

Hulu ordered the show into production in September 2016 and then scheduled the release of "The Looming Tower" on Wednesday, Feb. 28, with 10 episodes. Dan Futterman and Alex Gibney created the miniseries for Legendary Television.

Futterman described the political drama as "an investigative thriller." Catch the debut of "The Looming Tower" in February by subscribing to Hulu.
