'Ice Age 5' News: Scrat Causes Trouble in Outer Space

The fifth installment of "Ice Age" is finally coming in a few months, and the movie is expected to be more exciting and fun-packed than the previous films as Scrat continues to pursue his beloved acorn.

A synopsis obtained by Collider reveals that Scrat will continue his journeys into finally getting a hold of the elusive acorn that has been causing trouble not only for him but for the rest of the animals in the Ice Age period.

In the upcoming movie, Scrat will be sent to outer space and his efforts of acquiring the acorn will be causing chaotic events for the earth, and probably, even the entire universe.

A trailer released last year features Scrat first, just like the previous movies wherein he seems to be the center of all events that will lead to cosmic events.

He tries to put the acorn in ice, probably to make sure no one will ever find it, but unexpectedly, the acorn sets of what seems to be a space ship similar to the UFOs allegedly spotted today.

From there, he travels as an astronaut to outer space, accompanied by his acorn, and by the end of the trailer, he is sent back to earth where Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), and Diego (Dennis Leary) finally make their much-awaited appearance.

Unknowing of the catastrophe at hand, the trio wish on what they think are shooting stars. The falling stars are actually dismembered parts of a comet and are part of the first few phenomena that Scrat set off.

At the moment, information about the plot are scarce, but it was reported last year that a comet may be on the way to earth, meaning the Ice Age family and friends will have to face another threat of getting wiped out from the universe.

"Ice Age 5: Collision Course" hits the big screens on July 22.
