Indiana Jones Fifth Movie Pushed to 2020? Disney Focused on 'Star Wars Episode VII'
The "Indiana Jones" franchise being more than 30 years old, rumors of a reboot have been floating around. In 2012, the Walt Disney Company bought Lucasfilm, granting Disney ownership rights of the Indiana Jones franchise as well.
There have been rumors going as far back as March earlier this year about a reboot and a re-cast for Indiana Jones. However, those rumors were proven to be false but the possibility of a fifth installment was not totally shot down.
It was then reported a few months back that a fifth Indiana Jones film would not be happening anytime soon due to Ford's commitments towards "Star Wars Episode VII." No new news has been floating around the web for some time now, especially since Disney is focusing mainly on the Star Wars franchise.
A total of some six Star Wars films is expected in the next 10 years, pushing any potential Indiana Jones films to at the very least 2020 or 2021.
The "Indiana Jones" franchise is one of the most well-known adventure entertainment franchises which features the adventures of Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, a fictional archaeologist. The franchise began with the 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark," followed by "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
The role of Indiana Jones is portrayed by Harrison Ford, who is also widely known for his role as Han Solo in the "Star Wars" original trilogy.
