The Wizards had the upper hand initially in this series but they have let the initiative slip and now they are fighting to hang on.
Washington went over 100 points in Game 1, which they won, but since then they have been restricted and tied down by a strong Pacers' defense.
For two straight games the play has been more of a grind between two of the stingiest defenses in the NBA. Game 3 ended 85-63 to the Pacers and was not a pretty contest. Offensive play was suffocated and both teams – especially the Wizards – found it hard to express themselves in any way in offense.
Indiana has been able to lock down Washington point guard John Wall, who did in fact have his best scoring outing of 15 points in Game 3 but he also had seven turnovers. The Wizards must free him up more if they are to do more damage to the Pacers, and they must find a way past the brick wall that is the Pacers' defense.
