Informal Survey Points to Students' Bias Against Christians
An informal study about students' views regarding the issue of businesses being selective of their customers based on the owners' personal conviction showed that young people have an inconsistent stand on the subject, especially if it involves thorny matters of sexual and religious discrimination.
This was learned by Alliance Defending Freedom, who set out an on-cam interview with students of University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. In the video posted on YouTube, the students were asked if a business owner had the right to decline a customer. All of them answered in the affirmative.
The interviewer presented them with two scenarios — Sophie Theallet's decision to not dress Melania Trump and a hypothetical situation of a Muslim singer being hired to sing at a church's Easter service. All the interviewees answered that both fashion designer and Muslim singer have the prerogative to turn down the offers.

The students expressed surprise upon being told of the existence of an ordinance in Madison that allows a business to be sued for declining a customer, that particular law was unjust. However, their tone changed when asked if it's discriminatory for a Christian photographer to turn down a job for a same-sex wedding.
All the interviewees were stumped for several seconds before managing to muster guarded responses. One replied, "I don't know," while another replied, "That's such a sticky issue." Still, another one was able to say: "I think it's very difficult to determine what reason it is that you make that decision unless you're very steadfast in your religion saying, 'No, this is wrong.'"
The video, which has generated 572,365 views as of press time, concluded with the interviewer asking: "If a law forces that someone to promote something that's against their beliefs is so laughable, so unimaginable, then why is it so difficult to extend that same freedom to a Christian creative professional?"
