'Injustice 2' News: Robin Debuts in a Brand-New Trailer for the Sequel Game

Robin debuts as a promising main character in the upcoming "Injustice 2" but instead of him usually fighting alongside co-DC superhero, Batman, it appears that the two will find themselves on opposite ends of the spectrum making for an interesting gameplay.

A brand-new trailer for the fighting video game has recently dropped with Robin actually having a confrontation with the bat of Gotham. For those wondering what happened between the two, this particular incantation of the usual sidekick is actually Damian Wayne, son of Bruce Wayne.

"I can't forgive the deaths," the older Wayne says while Robin answers: "I'm your only son, old man."

Following their chatter, the two eventually shift to a full-blown combat and then the trailer shows a montage of the playable Robin facing various other characters from the videogame. From the looks of it, the character also packs in a full arsenal in terms of fighting skills and tricks. He can slice with sword, chuck out numerous shurikens and even use smoke bombs. He also appears to be able to teleport to his designated place.

The promo clip came via live streaming hosted by NetherRealm Studios' creative director, Ed Boon, who talked a little about the narrative that fans can expect in "Injustice 2." "Story mode is just amazing," he gushed, adding that they have never spent this much time in just honing the storyline in any other property that they have rolled out.

"It's the ultimate Justice League interactive cinematic experience. It's so cool to see these characters interacting with each other. It's huge; it's epic; I cannot wait for people to see this thing," Boon further went on to say.

"Injustice 2" is the direct sequel to 2013's "Injustice: Gods Among Us," which was met with generally positive reviews from both fans and critics,  which is why its follow-up has a pretty high-expectations bar to meet. The title, which is a partnership between NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is set to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this May 16.
