iOS 9 Jailbreak Release Date Arrives: Download Now Available
Four weeks after the developer version of Apple's iOS 9 was released, Chinese group Pangu has announced that a jailbreak for the current mobile OS is already available. According to a report in The Verge, the jailbreak is available through a Windows software package that makes it possible for what is called an untethered jailbreak for iOS devices that are currently running on iOS 9.0 up to 9.0.2. This is the first jailbreak for iOS 9 and has been much anticipated by iOS users who have been wanting to jailbreak their iPhones or iPads.
According to another report in TechCrunch, jailbreaking has continued even with Apple's attempts to make their current mobile OS more attractive for its users. Jailbreaking is said to offer more options for users to customize their iOS devices, as well as install software that need not be iOS compatible.
With the Windows software package, users can now do an untethered jailbreak, meaning users can do it without connecting their device into a computer. It reportedly works not only on iPhones, but also on iPads and iPod touch devices that are running on iOS 9.0 through 9.0.2. A more detailed list of device models are as follows: iPhone 5/5c/5s, 6/6 Plus, 6s/6s Plus; iPad 2, 3 and 4; 5th and 6th generation iPod touch; iPad Air/Air 2; iPad mini and iPad mini 2/3/4.
Being the first jailbreak, there are still some bugs in the Preference Loader function, according to the report. But considering that Pangu is known for its previous jailbreaks as well as its reputation in the jailbreak community, users will likely try this out. As with any other jailbreak, the report cautions users in jailbreaking their devices unless they really know what they are doing. The jailbreak package also comes with extensive guides to guide users to the jailbreak process.
Apple had earlier claimed that iOS 9 will be impossible to jailbreak because of the "Rootless" security system that was developed with this version of the OS.
