iPad Air 3 Release Date: Not Expected To Come With 3D Touch Technology, Rumored Launch In March 2016
If recent reports are true, the next iPad Air, the iPad Air 3, may not come with the company's 3D Touch technology, as earlier rumored. According to a report in IT Pro, an analyst from KGI Securities said that this particular technology became a problem for Apple especially during its production of the iPhone 6S. It apparently caused delays in production, calling it "one of the most severe production bottlenecks in iPhone 6S supply chain." The report also claimed than an early 2016 launch was likely, with March as the most probable time for the launch.
The likelihood of an early 2016 launch was also fueled by huge price cuts on the retail price of the iPad Air 2 at the start of the holiday shopping season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For older generation devices to be getting deep discounts such as this, it usually meant that a new generation device is about to be unveiled. According to reports in International Business Times, the iPad Air 3 will get an upgrade in its camera as it will sport an 8 megapixel shooter. This upgrade has long been awaited by iPad users.
The next generation iPad Air was expected by most iPad fans to be unveiled during Apple's September event. This did not happen however, as Apple opted to introduce its bigger sized tablet, the iPad Pro, as well as the iPad Mini 4.

Apple may have good reason to delay the release of another tablet, as tablet sales in general have been declining, mainly because unlike smartphones, apps for tablets are generally made to work well even with older generation tablets thus users are not in a hurry to get a new tablet. According to the IT Pro report, while more people are using tablets these days, the number of new buyers is not likely to increase in the coming years.
