iPhone X News: Apple's Most Expensive Smartphone Easily Breaks; Protective Cases Can Be Used to Minimize Damage

Stress tests conducted on Apple's new iPhone X results into the tech giant's most expensive smartphone to easily break. Meanwhile, there are reliable protective cases that can help secure the iPhone X from shattering.

SquareTrade, an extended warranty service company that caters to electronics consumers, conducted multiple breakability tests on Apple's newest iPhone model, which resulted in the entire smartphone's glass shattering.

Even though Apple claims that the iPhone X has the most durable glass ever, SquareTrade described the iPhone X as the "most breakable, highest-priced, most expensive to repair iPhone ever."

The breakability tests included dropping the iPhone X from six feet above concrete floors, face down, back down, and on its edge. They also put the iPhone X on a 60-second tumble test. All of these with exception of the edge drop, the iPhone X's glass broke.

Other companies, such as CNET, also conducted their own breakability tests which garnered the same result.

iPhone X users will have to spend a lot when their device ends up with shattered glass from accidentally dropping it because, according to iFixit, the entire device has to be replaced due to Apple's design and features.

Based on Apple's servicing site for the iPhone X, a replacement will cost up to $549, which is a lot more than having the back glass of the iPhone 8 Plus repaired.

It might be too late for iPhone X users to change their mind about their new phone. However, there are several iPhone X cases that are reliable to keep the device secure from breaks when dropped.

Nomad has a Rugged Case that's sure to protect the iPhone X from its glass breaking from falls, sold at $44.95.

Those who prefer a less flashy case can get the Totallee Thin iPhone X Case at $16.99, which adds only 0.02 inches on the device.

There's also X-Doria Defense at $29.95. Aside from securing the iPhone X from any outside damages, it also supports the device's wireless charging feature.
