iPhone X Release Date, Specs, News: Device to Feature All-Screen Display, Animoji, and More
The newest iPhone model, the iPhone X, features an all-screen display along with other new innovations from Apple.
Apple recently unveiled the new iPhone X — pronounced as "iPhone 10" — along with the upcoming iPhone 8 and 8 Plus at the opening of the Steve Jobs Theater last Sept. 12. The tech giant already put up a dedicated page for the iPhone X, where interested buyers can admire the new technology that Apple has built into their newest model.
The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch Super Retina Display, making the device ultimately bezel-less and leaving out the home button for good. It is also an OLED screen that delivers a 1,000,000 to one contrast ratio, showcasing stunning colors and high brightness from the display.
Although at the top part of the display, a tiny portion of bezel was left to house the front facing cameras and sensors that will enable the iPhone X's security feature, the Face ID. With this feature, users of the iPhone X will have their faces as their password to their devices, powered by the TrueDepth camera.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest hit features of the iPhone X is the Animoji. This is made possible by the TrueDepth camera, which can analyze and record more than 50 muscle movements to create expressions that will be applied in 12 different Animojis.
Users can put their expressions into a cat, a panda, a pig, and many other animals.
For those who are worried of the device being fragile because the display is all-screen, Apple already took care of that by using the toughest glass in both front and back of the iPhone X. Surgical-grade stainless steel also houses it on its sides.
The all-new design of the iPhone X allows it to have wireless charging and makes it water and dust resistance.
The iPhone X will be out in a few months. However, tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that 2018 will be the best time to buy the iPhone X, Macrumors reports.
Kuo predicts that the all-screen display and the facial recognition features will ultimately increase the demand for the iPhone X to a point that the supply will be insufficient. The tech analyst also predicts that in 2018, 90 million units of the iPhone X will come in, which will be enough to supply the demand.
Pre-orders for Apple's new iPhone X will be on Oct. 27, while its official release will be on Nov. 3.
