'Iron Man 4' News: Pay Negotiations Continue Between Marvel and Robert Downey, Jr.

It has been several weeks ago since Robert Downey, Jr. (RDJ) hinted the possibility of the fourth "Iron Man" movie on "The Ellen DeGeneres" show, and fans have been patiently waiting for the latest development about the movie. It appears that the movie, if it pushes through, will have to come much, much later, since the price negotiation in signing the 50-year-old actor back to Marvel's "Iron Man" franchise is still far from over.

According to Cross Map, the negotiations for RDJ's big payday has started way back in 2014, when they were discussing story lines for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the movie outfit. It seems like the actor won't be able to reprise his role if the price is "not right," which is understandable given that RDJ is currently the highest-paid actor in Hollywood.

Venture Capital Post said that in some reports, RDJ is asking for a $100 million salary, while others say he demanded a percentage of the gross sales of the upcoming "Iron Man 4," instead of getting a fixed dollar amount.

However, there are also rumors speculating that if RDJ and Marvel won't come to an agreement with the actor's salary, another actor is going to take his place. Vine Report said that he might be replaced by Ty Simpkins, the actor who played Tony Stark/Ironman's sidekick in "Iron Man 3," but Marvel has yet to confirm this rumor.

Meanwhile, the actor will still be seen as his famous Marvel superhero in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" in May 6, 2016. He'll be joined by other "Avenger"' cast like Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Paul Bettany (Vision).

For now, fans can only wait for further updates and hope that "Iron Man 4" pushes through.
