'Iron Man 4' Update: Marvel Working On Film For 2020?
The Marvel universe is getting more and more people to enter its realm, and with the coming of big superhero movies in the next three years, it is only reasonable that "Iron Man 4" is being mentioned by some fans.
Following the massive success of the franchise, fans speculated earlier last year that Tony Stark may be back sometime in the next year or so. However, it should be noted that Robert Downey Jr. said in 2014 that a fourth installment isn't happening.
On the other hand, recent rumors suggest that there is still hope for the franchise to be revived, that is, after all the Marvel movies have been released. Unfortunately, there are a number of mystery superhero movies lined up until early 2019. This puts "Iron Man 4" somewhere by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
Another reason why the fourth film is doubted to ever happen is the debate on whether Downey Jr. will reprise his role or if Marvel will tap a younger version of Stark to take over. While some fans think it would be a great idea to get someone else for a fourth installment, loyal Downey Jr. fans believe no one can top his performance.
Another reason that some experts think is keeping Marvel from putting the egotistical genius from getting back on stage is because of the fact that Stark has been exposed a lot and it is high time the big screens open doors for exposing other heroes.
One of the highly debated issues is Downey Jr.'s financial demands. He has been tagged as one of Hollywood's highest-paid actors in the past years and it is expected that with a fourth film, he will be asking for more.
While this is not much of an issue for Marvel Studios, there are other actors who demand less and can play the roles of other favored superheroes.
In the meantime, fans can just expect that if "Iron Man 4" is coming, details may be released in about two or three years.
