Isabella Cruise 'Not Joining' Scientology's Sea Org, Reps Say
Isabella Cruise, daughter of actor Tom Cruise, was rumored to have been signing on to Scientology's notorious Sea Org. Tom's representatives, however, have clarified the situation and insisted that Isabella "is not joining the church's religious order."
The younger Cruise was thought to have been considering joining Sea Org, a strict order of Scientology, after her boyfriend enlisted. Eddie Frencher is currently in boot camp in Los Angeles and will soon join other Scientologists who have pledged to spend a lifetime working for the organization.
"Bella is very serious about following Eddie into the Sea Org," a source allegedly told the Village Voice. She missed him after only a few days and wanted to be reunited with her significant other.
Sea Org members spend their days studying the tenets of Scientology and doing physical labor. They are required to sign a contract pledging one billion years of service, and are often cut off from family and friends during their service.
Many people speculated that Katie Holmes took daughter Suri away from Tom Cruise in order to prevent her from being enlisted in Sea Org. Neither party has spoken about the cause of their divorce, but the cult may have played a factor. Holmes was raised Catholic, while Cruise is a known, devoted follower of Scientology.
Since their separation, Holmes has changed her membership to a new Catholic church and has enrolled Suri at a prominent Catholic school in New York. Cruise's other children, Connor and Isabella, have been brought up in the Church of Scientology and are apparently comfortable following its doctrines.
"Isabella is not a public figure and deserves privacy," Cruise's representatives explained.
Meanwhile, Connor Cruise is enjoying the fame of Hollywood with the release of his new film, a remake of the classic "Red Dawn." It's the first time Connor has had a prominent role in a feature film.
