Jamie Lee Curtis 'NCIS' Appearance to Offer New Love Interest?
Jamie Lee Curtis has guest starred on hit CBS drama "NCIS," in what will be the first of more appearances for the Hollywood actress. Curtis might be in for the long haul, as it seems the show may be laying the groundwork for a romantic relationship between her character and Mark Harmon's character, Special Agent Gibbs.
Curtis and Harmon have worked together before, they co-starred together in the early Lindsay Lohan movie, "Freaky Friday." Curtis told Entertainment Tonight that she enjoys working with Harmon. She said, "I'm very fond of him and he's very fond of me ... He makes me blush a little bit because he's such a sweet guy."
On last night's "NCIS," Jamie Lee Curtis played the role of Dr. Samantha Ryan, and she is brought on to help Gibbs investigate the possible suicide of a high-ranking Navy reserve. There was chemistry and tension between the Ryan and Gibbs throughout the episode. And toward the end of the episode, when Ryan found herself unable to sleep, she telephoned Gibbs. The two did not discuss work for long and were soon flirting and talking about personal matters.
"NCIS" was careful to keep audience members guessing as to what the future holds for the Ryan and Gibbs. On the phone, Ryan asks Gibbs to join her for breakfast, and it is not exactly clear whether she is asking him for work, friendship, or romantic purposes. Gibbs responds to the invitation saying, "Are you asking me on a date, Ryan?" Samantha Ryan responds wryly, saying, "It's the middle of the night, Gibbs. You tell me." While her response may just be a curt rebuff of his romantic implication, Ryan does leave it open for interpretation.
Jamie Lee Curtis will be back on the show next week, and hopefully we'll see whether Ryan and Gibbs have a romantic future together. "NCIS" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
