'Jane the Virgin' Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers and Updates: Ricardo Chavira to play Xo's New Love Interest, Reunites with 'Desperate Housewives' Co-Star Eva Longoria
Xiomara Villanueva (played by Andrea Navedo) or Xo as she is called, has always had one of the most complicated lives in the CW series "Jane the Virgin," sometimes even more than the titular character Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) herself. She had found out that she was pregnant in the show's Season 2 finale and has no clue as to who the father might be, and now, an old flame is coming to further stir things up in her love life.
SpoilerTV reported that "Desperate Housewives" alumnus Ricardo Chavira will be starring in a recurring role in "Jane the Virgin" Season 3. He will be playing Xo's ex-boyfriend before she got married, though the show has yet to put a name to his character.
Coincidentally, Chavira will be reuniting with his co-"Desperate Housewives" alumni Eva Longoria, who's set to direct "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 Episode 3, "Chapter Forty-Seven." Chavira had played Eva's husband in all eight seasons of the hit series.
Hitched at the season finale
"Jane the Virgin" Season 3 will be picking up where the finale left off: Xo had slept with Esteban Santiago (Keller Wortham), her ex-husband Rogelio dela Vega's (Jamie Camil) archnemesis. But then she got pregnant with a baby that could belong to either of them. Funnily enough, this pregnancy news comes at the heels of Rogelio manifesting that he still wanted to have a child. If the baby does turn out to be his, will it be enough to change Xo's mind regarding children?
In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Jennie Urman revealed that "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 will certainly have a pregnancy, but not necessarily a baby. Does this mean that Xo isn't keeping her baby?
Other things to expect from 'Jane the Virgin' Season 3
It looks like Rogelio has several things on his plate for "Jane the Virgin" Season 3. Beyond Xo's growing list of suitors, his son-in-law Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) has yet to pull through from a fatal shooting in last season's finale.
Fans would recall that Michael and Rogelio have a hilarious "bromance" on the show. No other person in the world is more intensely #TeamMichael than Rogelio himself, so much so that in an interview with Pop Sugar, Jamie Camil revealed that Rogelio won't be able to Cope if Michael dies in "Jane the Virgin" Season 3.
Let's hope for his sake that Michael lives, then! "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 will air Monday, Oct. 17, on The CW.
