Jean-Claude Van Damme's Son Arrested for Holding His Roommate at Knifepoint
Jean-Claude Van Damme's son was recently arrested for holding his roommate at knifepoint in Arizona.
In a report published by TMZ, 21-year-old Nicholas Van Varenberg, son of action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, was arrested when police visited his apartment after someone had complained that he had punched the elevator in his building. When the police had arrived, the quickly found a trail of blood that led to Van Varenberg's apartment. After speaking to Van Varenberg and his roommate, the police then left the apartment after they found out that the former had hurt his hand.
However, just 20 minutes after the ordeal, Van Varenberg's roommate ran down the stairs and reported the truth to the officers: that he had just escaped from Van Varenberg who held him at knifepoint. The officers quickly returned to the apartment and searched the place finding a knife and marijuana.
Jean-Claude Van Damme's youngest son was later arrested by authorities for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
It was revealed that the 21-year-old had become upset with his roommate for answering the door to the police which led him to hold the latter at knifepoint.
Van Varenberg, who shares his father's real last name, is also an actor, just like his father. In fact, the two had recently appeared in a martial arts film titled "Kickboxer: Vengeance" just last year. The film is also said to be Van Varenberg's first ever.
He was born in Los Angeles to Van Damme and model-actress Darcy LaPier, the third of the former's four wives. Van Varenberg has two older siblings from his father's side. Jean Claude-Van Damme is most notably known for his martial arts films in the 80s and 90s which would include "Kickboxer," "Lionheart," "Double Impact" and just recently, "The Expendables 2" in 2012.
