Jeremy Lin: Top 5 Teams That Would Make Sense for Lin

NBA Teams that Can Use Jeremy Lin as an Effective PG

Jeremy Lin bailed out of his $4.3 million two-year contract with the Charlotte Hornets, hoping to expand his options and possibly play a starting role for another team.

Lin had a successful 2015-16 season with the Hornets, including an incredible performance during the semi-final playoff series versus the Miami Heat. He has proven himself to be a reliable backup point guard who can give much-needed points off the bench.

Lin chose to become a restricted free agent with a $2.2 million player option. In an interview with local Taiwan media, Lin said that the vital thing is for him to be happy.

"And of course, it will depend on whether I am a starter and how much playing time I get. I will take all that into consideration," said Lin.

Here's a list of five teams that may need the expertise of Linsanity.

1. Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks might lose two key point guards next season -- Raymond Felton and Deron Williams. If the Mavs choose not to bring back both veteran-aged players, they can bring a young and experienced point guard in Lin. He can be useful if the Mavericks keep shooters Parson and Matthews on the roster to make up for Lin's not-so-great shooting skills.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves

Bringing his excellent backup point guard skills to Minnesota makes a lot of sense since this team had the worst bench post-All Star last season. Ricky Rubio's backup point guard Tyus Jones just didn't deliver. Tyus Jones only averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 assists last season. It's hard to win games when you don't have a solid backup PG.

3. New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans had an insufficient 30-52 record last season. The lead point guard Jrue Holiday missed 17 games, which didn't help. Also, he has been injury-plagued for the previous 2 seasons as well. Lin can provide the team with a stable lead point guard.

4. Memphis Grizzlies

Getting Lin will give the Grizzlies a much-needed opportunity to get a great point guard. Lin will be a good PG addition whether Conley re-signs or not. Moreover, the Grizzlies has offered David Fizdale a four-year coaching deal last May, and he is involved in player development, as he showed during his assistant coach stint with the championship Heat team. He can help Lin improve his shooting.

5. Brooklyn Nets

Lin can have a big role in Brooklyn. The team doesn't have a starting PG. In addition, Kenny Atkinson is the new head coach of the Nets, a coach who worked with Lin during his "Linsanity" days in New York. Finally, he can play alongside Lopez and Young as a star and not just a backup player like he is in Charlotte.
