Jeremy Lin's Training for 2016-17 Season with Brooklyn Nets Kicks Off [VIDEO]: 3 Reasons Fans Are Excited About the Acquisition
Jeremy Lin signed a three-year $36-million contract with Brooklyn Nets early this month, drawing varying reactions from fans and sports analysts. While some are excited about the big move for the 27-year-old point guard, others think that the NBA star is underpaid with his deal with the Nets.
Lin Preps For The Next Season
Days after he inked an agreement with the Nets, Lin has been sharing to the world through his social media accounts that he is happy and satisfied with his decision. Recently, he hinted on his Snapchat that he started his preparations for the 2016-17 NBA season. "That is quite nice with the view," Lin told his Snapchat followers while showing the HSS Training Center.
According to the SB Nation, Lin flew back to New York on July 15 for a press conference. Nets announced that Lin and the other new members of the team would be introduced to the press on July 20.
Why Brooklyn Nets Fans Should Be Excited About Lin
There are reasons that die-hard Brooklyn Nets fans should look forward to with Lin's entry to the team:
1. Lin is the answer to the Nets' lack of reliable point guard. According to CBS Sports, the Nets suffered last season when it solely relied on Jarrett Jack as its point guard. After Jack was injured, Shane Larkin and Donald Sloan were picked to take over; however, they were not reliable enough to handle the responsibility. Lin has already established credibility as a point guard throughout the years. He is the ideal NBA player to take the role.
2. Lin is undeniably popular. Four years ago, Lin ignited the "Linsanity" euphoria in New York. Although it somehow faded as he transferred from one team to another, Lin remained one of the established NBA stars who are immensely popular worldwide. This could help the Nets in expanding its fan base. "And while Lin will probably never again generate the euphoria he once did in New York, he is sure to raise the profile of the Nets," Scott Cacciola and Jay Schreiber of The New York Times wrote.
3. Lin gets to play with coah who knows his game Lin has his share of shaky shooting and mediocre performances in the past seasons. But with his entry to the Nets, he is expected to level up his game as he will be reuniting with coach Kenny Atkinson, his former assistant coach when he was still with the New York Knicks. "Lin can't ask for much more than this: He gets to play for a coach who knows his game," Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated commented.
