JJ Watt Was Met with Deafening Cheers and Applause by Fans Upon Returning to the Field
After raising over $30 million for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, football star JJ Watt was greeted with a hero's welcome when he returned to the field last Sunday.
Houston may still be recovering after it was ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, but that isn't stopping them from enjoying a good sports night. Last Sunday was the Houston Texans' first foray into the NFL season and it surely helps that the game was held at their very own NRG Stadium. Emotions were definitely high especially when J.J. Watt, the Houston Texans' defensive end, entered the field. Clearly, everyone in the stadium was delighted to see the 28-year-old, giving him a deafening roar of welcome.
The game was exceptionally special for Watt as he had missed most of the last season when he suffered an injury to the back. But most of the emotions and cheers were directed to what he did after the devastation that Hurricane Harvey had left behind.

While still recovering from his injury, that definitely didn't stop Watt from extending his hand in help and playing a part in the healing process after the terrible storm. Watt has raised over $30 million for the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts which began with a simple fundraising page which aimed to gather, at the least, $200,000. With donations pouring in across the country, the goal was raised further and further until they had finally reached the outstanding amount of $30 million thanks to 200,000 donors which include comedian and host Ellen Degeneres.
Furthermore, Watt, along with his foundation, had also filled 12 semi-trucks with tons of supplies which he himself and his teammates helped distribute to the victims of the hurricane.
Deafening cheers combined with a roar of applause had greeted the football star when his name was announced. Watt held a Texas flag and proudly waving it before joining his teammates on the field.
