John Mayer Celebrates One Year of Sobriety With a Message to His Fans
John Mayer's drinking habits are no more.
On Tuesday, singer John Mayer took to Twitter to share with his fans another milestone he has achieved. The Grammy award winner revealed that he has been sober for 365 days. "One year ago today, I decided to give drinking a break," John wrote on Twitter to his 1.2 million followers. "A very personal thing for everyone. For me, a constant return on investment," he added.
This news may come as a surprise to some since the 40-year-old has been known for his partying, drinking, and womanizing habits. But nevertheless, the news is true. Mayer hasn't had a drink for over a year now.
He explains that the reason that he decided to share this news is to let the people know that for the time being, he is done with drinking.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Mayer revealed that he had never really had a serious issue with drinking. However, he also felt like something is wrong.
"Drinking is a f***ing con. How much is enough? Every time I drank, I was looking for some sort of regulated amount. It always feels wrong for me... I remember looking around going, 'This feels rigged. I'm taking a break,'" Mayer told the magazine back in June.
According to him, no matter how much he drank, he never felt as if he was succeeding in life.
Instead of drinking, the seven-time Grammy winner has taken to smoking Marijuana, a habit he says that has made his quality of life better. While he says he hadn't really suffered anything serious from drinking alcohol, it should be remembered that back in 2013, he told Ellen Degeneres on her show that he had suffered serious throat problems mostly because of his affinity to scotch.
Hopefully, John Mayer never has to taste alcohol ever again.
