Jules Bianchi Off Life Support, But Still Unconscious
The Japanese Grand Prix held last October 2014 was witness to a horrible accident as 25-year old F1 racer's car crashed, head-on, with a crane that was extricating the Sauber driven by Adrian Sutil who crashed at the Turn 7 of the Suzuka Circuit a lap earlier. It was two days after that the racer's team confirmed that Bianchi suffered a brain injury. Since then, Bianchi remained in coma.
In one of the few interviews that the family grants, Philippe Bianchi shared that his son is making slow and stable progress. However, he also claims that Jules is not showing any signs of waking up.
"Everyday, Jules is running a marathon. All of his organs are working without assistance. But, for now, he remains unconscious. He's moving forward. So we hope for a new evolution. The next ne would be for him to get out of his coma. The only thing we can say is that he's fiercely fighting as he always did, before and after the accident. From a medical point of view, his condition is stable."
The racer's father remains hopeful s the young racer continues to show signs of hope. He shares, "From time to time, at his bedside, we see that things are happening. At times, he is more 'active,' he moves more, his hand shakes ours…But are they merely reflex reactions or real?"
At present, Bianchi stays at Nice, France where he is recovering without any medications for artificially-induced coma. He is also not connected to any life support devices.
The family hopes to give justice to what happened to the young racer. Philippe Bianchi confirmed that they are also in talks with a lawyer to help them find out who must be held accountable for the accident that caused his son to remain unconscious.
"What happened at Suzuka was not normal, and if it appears someone must be held accountable, then they will be without question," according to the elder Bianchi.
