Justin Timberlake to Headline 2018 Super Bowl Halftime Show
It has been confirmed that Justin Timberlake will be appearing at the biggest football event.
On Sunday, Justin Timberlake took to Twitter announcing that he would be performing at the 2018 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The singer made the announcement through a creative and hilarious skit featuring the "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon saying, "I DO have the time. Half the time...#PepsiHalftime #SBLII @Pepsi @NFL @JimmyFallon @FallonTonight."
Joining in on the big announcement, Pepsi also took to Twitter to confirm the big news. "It's official: @jtimberlake is taking the #PepsiHalftime stage at #SBLII Tune into #SNF tonight for the full scoop & we'll see you on Feb 4!," the company said on their Twitter post.
With Justin Timberlake headlining the 2018 Super Bowl Halftime Show, this will make it the third time the singer has performed in the event. His first Super Bowl performance was way back in 2001 where he performed with the other members of his group, N'SYNC, as well as pop star Britney Spears and Aerosmith. Three years after, he returned to the Super Bowl stage and this time, it is with Janet Jackson. Their performance together sparked much controversy after a wardrobe malfunction left Jackson's breast exposed. This occurred when Timberlake ripped off a piece of Jackson's clothing which then exposed her breast. The whole fiasco is now infamously known as "nipplegate" and Janet Jackson has since been banned by the NFL.
There had been rumors that the "Mirrors" singer was in talks of headlining the event, a rather obvious choice given his catalogue of hits, but now, fans can rest assured that Timberlake will, in fact, be performing next year. Fans are already anticipating an N'SYNC reunion and possibly a Britney Spears surprise appearance. There are even those hoping that Janet Jackson would also make an appearance to finally put an end and make right the controversy they both stirred over a decade ago
Nevertheless, Justin Timberlake would need to bring his A-game given the performance Lady Gaga showcased this year.
