'Kakuriyo no Yudomeshi' Anime Latest News: Can College Student's Cooking Skills Keep Her From Becoming Queen of the Underworld?

Another popular Japanese light novel is being adapted into an anime series that's due out in 2018. What wonders and challenges will the supernatural world be featuring through the eyes of series protagonist Aoi on "Kakuriyo no Yudomeshi"?

The upcoming anime adaptation of the series, which is also known as "Afterlife Inn Cooking," was recently announced by the light novel's original illustrator, Laruha, via their official Twitter account. Laruha's status post expressed excitement as well as pride and gratitude for having part of the team who worked on the original light novel series.

The series tells the story of a female college student named Aoi, who has the ability to see earthbound spirits, which is an ability she has inherited from her late granddad. And if there is anything else she does even better than this, it's cooking and providing sustenance to the spirits that she encounters.

Midori Yuuma writes the original light novel series and a seventh volume is reportedly due in Japan on Wednesday, Nov. 15. It was first released in 2015 under the Kadokawa Fujimi L Bunko imprint.

Additionally, a manga adaptation has also started in "B's Log Comic" in 2016 and has since been released in two collected volumes. The manga series is also written by Yuuma, with illustrations done by Wako Ioka.

"Kakuriyo no Yudomeshi" is scheduled to be released sometime in 2018. Information on its cast and crew, exact airing dates, and broadcast networks will be released at a later time.
