Kandi Burruss Talks About Mama Joyce's Attitude Before Wedding
Kandi Burruss is admitting that her mother's issues with her husband almost got in the way of her marrying television producer Todd Tucker.
Burruss has been documenting her relationship with Tucker on the Bravo series "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and now fans will see all of the highs and lows that led up to her wedding day in her spinoff series, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi's Wedding Special."
Joyce Jones, known as "Mama Joyce" on the Bravo reality television show, has vehemently disagreed with her singer-songwriter daughter's decision to marry Tucker.
Despite accusing Tucker of being an opportunist and unfaithful to his fiancee, Mama Joyce appeared with some "Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast members at Burruss' wedding last month. However, Burruss admitted that things did not go smoothly with her mother before she walked down the aisle last month.
"I didn't think that she was going to say anything, but I wanted her attitude to get better. She kind of put a damper on my mood," Burruss said on "The View" recently. "In the days leading up to the wedding, there were a lot of moments where I was like, 'Uh oh,' I didn't know."
Burruss also spoke about the fact that her mother and husband's mother had issues getting along.
"There were moments where my mom was still coming at your crazy and there were moments where his mom and my mom were bumping heads," Burruss said on "The View."
In a trailer for the upcoming show, it seems the bride and groom's mothers are about to get into a physical altercation. The special is scheduled to air on June 1 on Bravo and promises to bring drama with the bride and groom's mother and issues with a prenuptial agreement.
"Each episode follows Kandi and Todd as they plan a larger-than-life 'Coming to America' themed wedding ceremony, signifying the couple's initial introduction in Africa," a statement from Bravo reads.
