Kate Middleton Baby Latest News: Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Expecting Third Child

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child, Kensington Palace announced on Monday.

"Their royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child," the palace statement said. "The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."

Like her previous pregnancies, Catherine, 35, is suffering from hyperemesis gravidium, which is a more severe case of morning sickness. CNN reports that the Duchess is not past the 12-week mark but it is her condition that has prompted the palace to make an early statement.

Catherine's condition has forced her to miss Prince George's first day at school. On Thursday, Prince William brought his son to Thomas's Battersea in south London. She also had to cancel on a planned engagement at the Children's Centre in London.

The latest addition to the royal family will be 4-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte's younger sibling, making the child fifth in line for the throne.

According to a report by the Express, the Duchess has always wanted more than two children. An insider told the publication that she had to persuade Prince William for a third baby.

Other rumors suggest that Catherine intends to have a home birth for the third baby. She reportedly wanted to give birth to Charlotte at the Palace but was eventually persuaded to go to the hospital.

Considering that there were no complications when she gave birth to Prince George and Princess Charlotte, her desire for a home birth is believed to have strengthened.

Catherine remains unwell, as announced by a  Kensington Palace spokesperson. She is being cared for at Kensington Palace. Her mother, Carole Middleton, has also been helping her out.
