Katharine McPhee Responds to David Foster Dating Rumors

Katharine McPhee has responded to rumors linking her to longtime friend David Foster.

The "American Idol" alum and music producer have been sparking romance rumors these past few weeks. The two have been photographed getting extra close during multiple outings, leading many to believe they are an item.

In the November issue of Health, McPhee finally addressed the rumors. "We're very close friends, and we've been friends for a long time," she shared. "I'm really, really fond of him, and I think he's an incredible person. I've known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He produced my first single. So he's been really good to me. People can say whatever they want."

The singer went on to confirm that she is "pretty single" and that she has not been in a relationship since her split with fellow "Scorpion" star Elyes Gabel.

On Sunday night, McPhee and Foster sat courtside as they watched a Lakers game in Los Angeles. They appeared to be in good spirits as they gazed into each other's eyes during their latest outing.

While many are still convinced there may be more to their friendship, a former friend of the producer claims they are just going out for "publicity." The source went on to say that Foster is not even a sports fan, adding, "I bet he couldn't name one player on the Lakers."

The following night, McPhee and Foster were photographed at Beverly Hills hotspot Craig's — a restaurant often plagued by the paparazzi — once again.

In October, the two were seen all smiles as they walked arm-in-arm in Brentwood, California. An insider previously told PEOPLE that they are platonic friends, stressing they were just poking fun at the photographers who were trying to capture images of them together.
