Kevin Harvick is Rewriting the NASCAR Record Book
Kevin Harvick has won the last two Sprint Cup series races (Las Vegas, and Phoenix) but when we look at his growing streak of top two finishes, it would seem that Harvick is on one of the best runs in the history of NASCAR. So good in fact that he is drawing comparison to King Richard Petty who without a doubt was one of the best drivers in the history of NASCAR.
The reigning Cup series champion has finished first or second in the last 7 NASCAR races. That includes the season finale last year at Homestead and the 2015 Daytona 500. It is the longest such streak since Petty's 1975 championship season.
In comments reported by NASCAR talk Harvick was quoted as saying, "When you said the Richard Petty part, that gives me chills."

One team or driver dominating the sport of NASCAR is not all that uncommon. It is uncommon for so many finishes at the front of the pack as the record book indicates but other drivers throughout the years have dominated this sport for a season or longer.
Jimmie Johnson was five straight Sprint Cup tittles. Jeff Gordon was nearly unbeatable in the middle art of the 1990's and won 13 races in the 1998 season. Kyle Busch went on a tear in the 2008 season after being let go from Hendrick Motorsports. Once he got to Joe Gibbs Racing the excitable Busch won 8 races and used every means necessary to rub his former employers face in it. Tony Stewart set a high mark in the Chase era of NASCAR by winning half of the chase races in the build up to his third sprint cup series title.
Harvick will get a chance to further rewrite the record books this weekend at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California a place where he has traditionally run very well at.
