Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen to Appear in New York Times
Each year, the New York Times Arts & Leisure Weekend brings together moguls in film, television, theater, dance, music, journalism and more. This year, Alan Rickmann and Kristen Wiig are among those leading colloquiums which are set to begin Jan. 5, 2012 at the TimesCenter.
The event allows those interested in the arts to hear firsthand accounts of the creative process from those involved. Arts and Leisure Weekend events are scheduled until January 8th thus far.
Rickmann, who is known for his role as Severus Snape in the "Harry Potter" film franchise and lead role in Broadway comedy Seminar, will appear from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Jan. 7, 2012. Kristen Wiig, Saturday Night Live alumni and star and writer of this year’s hit comedy “Bridesmaids,” will appear Jan. 8, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. with the film’s director Paul Feig.
Also on the roster are"50/50" film producers Seth Rogen and Will Reiser, who will appear on January 8, 2012, from 8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. “50/50” stars Joseph Gordon- Levitt as a young man who discovers he has a form of cancer with a 50% survival rate. Along the way he and his friend (played by Rogen) discover who and what is most important in life. Reiser, who wrote the screenplay based on his own struggle with cancer, told the Chicago Tribune that he left something out of the film in his first draft.
"I was really angry," he said while in Chicago on a promotional tour. "I could only see my point of view. And I felt very much the victim. Which makes sense, when you go through something like this, but as a writer I wasn't allowing the character to be more flawed.”
“Now, to clarify my point, I'm not saying that the cancer survivors are 'acting like victims.' But at the time I only saw my anger, and didn't know what to do with it,” he clarified.
The cast and creative team of "The Good Wife," including Juliana Margulies, Christine Baranski, Josh Charles, and creators Robert and Michelle King will appear on Jan. 6, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Others who will be on hand include composer Philip Glass and Academy Award-nominated "Revolutionary Road" actor Michael Shannon of “Boardwalk Empire.”
Also featured will be creative director of retail giant Barney's, Simon Doonan, on Jan. 8, 2012 from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. along with Grammy-winning record producer Clive Davis (Jan. 8, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.).
