'L.A. Noire' on Nintendo Switch News: Day 1 Patch Will Require Extra SD Card

Nintendo Switch users who are looking forward to the release of Rockstar Games' "L.A. Noire" will need an extra SD card for the game's patch on launch day.

It was announced last September that the retro- and detective-themed title from Rockstar would be released to match the current generation of consoles including the Nintendo Switch.

The game is set to be released this month, but Nintendo Switch players are reminded that they will be required to have a separate SD card before initiating the game's download on launch day.

Visitors to the official "L.A. Noire" Nintendo Switch page will be greeted with a note that says: "MicroSD card (sold separately) required to download the game; see Software Details for required free space. Insert MicroSD card before beginning the download. Minimum 60 MB/sec read speed required."

Meanwhile, on the game's official page at Rockstar's website, the developer reminds gamers: "The Nintendo eShop digital version of L.A. Noire, including all bug fixes and improvements, requires 29 GB of available storage. Because this exceeds the available internal storage on the console, the eShop version of the game must be installed to a microSD card (sold separately) that is inserted prior beginning the download."

Every Nintendo Switch unit has a built-in 32 GB memory space. However, 6.2 GB of it is already used and dedicated for the console's system.

The above-mentioned 29 GB file size is for the digital copy of the game, which is why it already includes all the update contents on day 1. But for Nintendo Switch players who will be purchasing the "L.A. Noire" cartridge, they will still need to have an extra SD card that can accommodate a 14 GB downloaded file for the launch day patch.

"L.A. Noire" was first released in 2011 for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. This year, apart from the Nintendo Switch, the game will also be made available for PS4 and Xbox One players on Tuesday, Nov. 14, for $49.99.
