'L.A. Noire: VR Case Files' Delayed Until December

Take-Two Interactive has revealed that the launch of its virtual reality game "L.A. Noire: VR Case Files" will be delayed. Originally slated for a Nov. 14 release date, the neo-noir detective action-adventure game will instead be released this December although the exact date has yet to be announced

The video game company which wholly owns game publishers RockStar Games and 2K, stated in its recent earnings report that the game destined for the HTC Vive will be delayed by one month. This means that it will not be released alongside the remastered versions of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

First announced back in September, "L.A. Noire: VR Case Files" is a scaled-down version of the original game which was released in 2011. It features seven of the original, self-contained cases from the hit neo-noir action-adventure game rebuilt for virtual reality.

The announcement was met with fanfare as many gamers were elated at the possibility of experiencing the game's highly-convincing character animations face-to-face, even if it is just for a few of the game's iconic cases.

The game takes place in the city of Los Angeles, in the year 1947 where players either complete cases – linear scenarios with set objectives – or freely roam the open world doing optional activities as decorated Marine veteran Cole Phelps (voiced by Aaron Staton). In the original version, this was all done from a third-person perspective which makes the VR option very enticing.

The game blends investigative elements with fast-paced action sequences, including chases, combat, interrogations, and gunfights. Players interview suspects and are given the option to either believe them, doubt them, or outright accuse them of lying. All these elements blended in a VR environment will certainly make it feel as if the player is starring in his or her own crime drama.

"L.A. Noire" remastered is set to be released on Nov. 14 for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch with "L.A. Noire: VR Case Files" is slated to be launched next month.
