LA Lakers NBA Trade Rumors, News 2014: Boston Celtics to Trade Rajon Rondo to Lakers?

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly discussed a possible swap for Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.

The discussion between both teams first reportedly occurred last summer and was never finalized, but with Rondo becoming a free agent come July, there is still the chance that talks could resume. However, the rumors and speculation started gaining heat once more, after news came out that Rondo and LA Lakers star shooting guard Kobe Bryant had breakfast together Thursday morning.

The players stated that their meeting was just breakfast though, and there was nothing about a trade in or becoming teammates.

Bryant also told the Los Angeles Daily News that he and Rondo had a "mutual intervention" and talked about their respective teams. The duo even had a "basketball geek conversation" about the Lakers and Celtics match back in 2008 and 2010 while enjoying their breakfast at The Paramount in Beacon Hills.

Bryant made no mention of a possible swap though, but said that he and Rondo got along "extremely well." He said it was good to get together with his fellow basketball player.

Bryant is not the only one who is interested in Rondo though, as the Lakers have long since looked at the possibility of getting Rondo for their team. Rondo and the Celtics beat the Lakers during the 2008 NBA Finals, something that put Rondo at the top of the Lakers' potential picks among the free agents coming out this summer.

Sources told EPSN that despite the rumors though, the Celtics do want to resign Rondo and any discussions they may have had with other teams were more for information than to actually replace Rondo.

Other players from the Boston Celtics that are going to be free agents and might get swapped are Gerald Wallace, Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Evan Turner. The players could go to other teams such as Indiana Pacers, the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat or LA Clippers.
