'Last Man on Earth' Season 4 News: Fred Armisen Lands Guest Starring Role

"Last Man on Earth" will be staging yet another "Saturday Night Live" reunion for its fourth season.

Fred Armisen is officially on board the Fox comedy, according to reports. The "Saturday Night Live" alum will take on the role of Karl, a survivor who happens to have an interesting past. Armisen's character will debut on the post-apocalyptic series in January 2018.

Further details on Armisen's role are still being kept under wraps; however, there are speculations that he may be related to one member of the gang. The only thing clear right now is that his character will have a multi-episode arc.

Armisen joins the list of "Saturday Night Live" faves who previously appeared on the program, including Jason Sudeikis, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. The gig also reunites the "Portlandia" star with his fellow Studio 8H alum Will Forte — who also serves as the "Last Man on Earth" creator and leading man.

The 50-year-old comedian will next be seen on the second season of Netflix's "Lady Dynamite" alongside Andy Samberg. He will be part of the 2018 series "Final Space" as well.

In the current season of "Last Man on Earth," the survivors embark on a journey to find a safer place to stay. The gang sets sail toward Mexico in an effort to avoid a nuclear fallout.

Titled "La Abuela," next week's episode will see the gang move in together. They decide to settle into an old mansion that was previously owned by a notorious cartel leader. Melissa (January Jones) is concerned about Todd's (Mel Rodriguez) health, while Erica (Cleopatra Coleman) and Gail (Mary Steenburgen) try to stop Dawn from crying. Also, Tandy (Forte) and Carol (Kristen Schaal) argue when she forces him to help her baby-proof their new home.

The fourth season of "Last Man on Earth" airs every Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. EDT on Fox.
