LeBron James to Opt Out of Cavs Contract But Will Eventually Re-Sign

After losing against the Golden State Warriors in last season's NBA Finals, LeBron James could be planning to jump aboard the ship once more. In a recent report, the four-time MVP will allegedly opt out of his final year in Cleveland, which will make him an unrestricted free agent.

Throughout James' career, he has only been an UFA twice -- one when he left Cleveland and joined Miami, and last year when he opted out of his contract with the Heat to go home to the Cavs.

However, if the rumors are true, then this season could be the third time the 2-time NBA champion will become an unrestricted free agent.

Fortunately for Cavs fans, there is no need to worry. Based on the ESPN report, LeBron will just wait on how the free agency pans out, and then re-sign with Cleveland.

Tristan Thompson, who shares the same agent with James, will reportedly be handed a max contract by the Cavs organisation, considering his commendable post-season performance that made him both a defensive and offensive threat in Kevin Love's absence.

In addition, Cleveland also expects Love to re-join the club, and it will offer the power forward with a max contract as well.

Once everything has gone smoothly for Cleveland with its free agent prospects, that's when James would probably re-sign to weigh his options as far as salary is concerned.
