'Legends of Tomorrow' news, cast, spoilers: Is 'Legends' building up to be TV's own antihero team?

It is true that DC may be a bit behind in its cinematic universe compared to Marvel; however, 2016 looks promising for the company as "Batman v Superman" is set to hit theaters during the start of summer, followed by the much-awaited antihero team called "Suicide Squad." DC is also way ahead in the TV world. With "Arrow" and "The Flash" making waves on The CW, and "Gotham" establishing itself on Fox, it is expected that DC will dominate more on the small screen.

The next TV project that DC is currently working on is "Legends of Tomorrow," which, from the looks of it, is sort of TV's own antihero team. The only difference with this team from the Suicide Squad is that characters in Legends of Tomorrow are not all villains, rather a collaboration between heroes and villains.

The upcoming spin-off will feature a team of characters that have already been seen on Arrow and on The Flash. The show will include recurring characters such as Sara Lance/The Canary (Caity Lotz), Mick Rory/Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brandon Routh). They will be joined by new cast members such as Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, and Casper Crump as Vandal Savage.

According to Screen Rant, it will be quite interesting to see how villains, such as Captain Cold and Heatwave, be manipulated into doing heroic things. This was already seen in The Flash, but seeing more of this may be the real challenge, especially with The Canary and The Atom, being naturally good, a tug on power is expected to happen. Having new characters with different personalities will also certainly contribute a lot to the group's dynamic.

A promising plot for the series includes a lot of time travel. Since this has already been an idea that was explored in the first season of The Flash, it's no doubt that it can continuously be dabbed on later on. Furthermore, time travel will impose all kinds of effects not only for The Flash's storyline but also in future episodes of Legends of Tomorrow.

There is no set date yet for DC's Legends of Tomorrow, but it is expected in 2016.
