LG G3 vs. Apple iPhone 6 Plus: Which Phablet is a Better Bang for Your Buck?

The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus is looking to be Apple's best smartphone to date but as with all smartphones, comparisons are always made. While the iPhone 6's 4.7-inch screen is a step up from the iPhone 5, the iPhone 6 Plus is a competitor to today's line of phablets.

The LG G3 was released in June earlier this year and it surprised competition with its QHD screen. No doubt it was the first phablet to up the status quo among manufacturers in terms of screen size. How will the iPhone 6 Plus fare against the G3?

The iPhone 6 Plus and the G3 sport the same 5.5-inch display size but then differ with the screen resolution. The Plus only has a full HD (1920 x 1080) display but is complimented by Apple's Retina display. The G3, on the other hand is equipped with its QHD (2560 x 1440) display, the first of its kind in any phablet line.

The iPhone 6 Plus is powered by Apple's new 64-bit A8 chipset with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. It's available in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options but lacks any microSD card support. Apple has also stuck with its 1GB RAM.

While the Cupertino company hasn't improved from its dual-core processors or 1GB RAMs, it still runs quite fast and without any problems, even with the issues plaguing the iOS 8.

The G3 on the other hand is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, a quad-core 2.5GHz processor and an Adreno 330 GPU. It's available in either the 16GB with 2GB RAM variant or the 32GB with 3GB RAM variant. Both variants support microSD cards of up to 128GB. It runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat and could be upgradeable to Android L when it's released.
