LG G4 Release Date: Next-Gen Android Flagship Finally Unveiled, Check Out Handset's Best Features
After months of rumors, leaks and alleged specs, the LG G4 release date is finally here, and the latest flagship has just been announced.
According to a report by GSM Arena, LG Electronics held the press launch in two separate locations – one in New York, and another in London.
As previously advertised, the LG G4 will feature a slightly curved body that is reminiscent to the G Flex lineup. The new flagship's back cover is made out of leather.
In the report, the leather material is made through vegetable tanning, a procedure that is only done in 10 percent of luxury leathers. In addition, the device will reportedly come in either a ceramic or metallic back cover version.
Other aspects that caught the audience's attention are the camera and design departments.
The LG G4 boasts a 16MP sensor with a 1/2.6" diagonal, including an f1.8 lens. According to the report, this particular sensor would in theory perform better than the one equipped in the new Samsung Galaxy flagships.
Other basic specs of the LG G4 include a 5.5-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory.
Unlike most flagships and high-end devices released this year, the new Android flagship will not come with the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset, but with a slightly lower-end Snapdragon 808 processor.
In the report, the device will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, though there was no word yet what version would it be.
Completing the basic specs list are the microSD card slot, and a 3,000mAh battery.
