LG V30 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Smartphone to Gain Flagship Status With Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB RAM?
LG's upcoming flagship smartphone, the G6, is currently in the spotlight with only a few days left before its official launch. However, in the last few days, another device from the South Korean tech giant has been gaining a lot of attention — the V30.
Consumers have been questioning the G6's status as LG's flagship device for 2017 after reports surfaced that it will powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor. This move is believed to be due to expected issues in the availability of Qualcomm's new flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 835. The chip's co-developer, Samsung, is said to have exclusive access to it until April.
Despite this foreseen issue, LG decided to push through with the G6's launch this weekend.
Now, according to rumors originating from Chinese microblogging website Weibo, LG could make the V series its new flagship range with the rumored arrival of the V30. Popular tipster Ice Universe also revealed that the device will be equipped with the Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM). Furthermore, it is said to have a dual-camera setup for both rear and front cameras, an upgraded quad-DAC audio configuration and "more mysterious features."
Its predecessor, the V20, impressed a lot of consumers when it was released in October 2016 due to the smartphone's premium features and hardware, including a secondary Quantum display. However, there are rumblings that this innovative display setup might appear differently in the V30.
The LG V30 is rumored to arrive sometime in the second half of 2017. Although, it should be noted that LG has not officially confirmed the V30 so information should be taken with a grain of salt.
Meanwhile, LG is all set to introduce the G6 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain next week. The company will have a press event on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 12 p.m. CET/5 a.m. EST.
