LG Viper 4G LTE Release Date Set for April 22 on Sprint
The LG Viper 4G LTE is set to launch April 22 on Sprint, according to recent press release by the company.
The device will retail at $99.99 with a new 2-year service agreement and $50 mail-in rebate via reward card as well as be the first handset to operate on the carrier's 4G LTE network.
New and existing Sprint customers can start reserving it today. Anyone who pre-orders the device could receive it as early as Friday, April 20, two days before it actually goes on sale.
The Viper is quite impressive, sporting a fairly light frame at 5-ounces and includes NFC (near-field communications), Google Wallet, HD gaming and video chatting.
Other specifications the LTE Viper include a 1.2GHz dual-core processer, 1GB of RAM, a 4-inch WVGA touch screen display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a front camera, and a 5-megapixel rear shooter.
It can also function as a mobile hotspot, supporting up to five other devices at one time sharing both 3G and 4G LTE simultaneously.
The Viper will also come with 50GB of free cloud storage and sharing from the Box app along with a 4GB card in the microSD slot and 32GB of internal memory.
It will be the first device to run on Sprint's new 4G LTE network, making it a valid competitor for some of the top smartphones on AT&T and Verizon, including the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and Galaxy Nexus.
Sprint recently announced that it would be bringing its LTE network to various major cities in the U.S. including Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City and San Antonio by the middle of this year.
LG also released a 4G LTE smartphone on AT&T last year with the Nitro HD, featuring one of the first true high-definition displays in the market.
