LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE Now Able to Make Calls Away from Smartphone
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE is now able to make calls away from the smartphone with the newly added cellular connectivity for its Android Wear operating system.
Because of the cellular connectivity feature of Android Wear, users of the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE can now make and answer calls from it even if the smartphone is left at home. This feature will come in handy for individuals who do not want to carry around both their smartphone and their smartwatch, according to CIO.
Normally, smartwatches only have WiFi and Bluetooth support to connect to the smartphone. The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE is the first smartwatch to feature cellular support on its operating system, so it automatically switches to cellular connection once the device goes beyond the range of WiFi and Bluetooth. The watch is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones, CNET reports.

"As long as your watch and phone are connected to a cellular network, you'll be able to use your watch to send and receive messages, track fitness, get answers from Google, and run your favorite apps," CIO quotes Android Wear product manager Peter Ludwig's statement in a blog.
Ludwig confirmed that users will be able to use the LG watch to make and receive calls when they are busy or when their phone is out of reach, the report adds.
LG's Android Wear smartwatch boasts f a 480 x 480 high resolution screen with three control buttons. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and is powered by a 570 mAh battery. The device has 4 GB of storage and 768 MB of RAM, the report details.
The latest LG smartwatch will be available starting this month in South Korea and in the United States, according to CIO. The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE is now available via online AT&T stores and it will come to the physical stores on Friday. The day before that, Verizon began offering pre-orders for the device via its online store.
