Lisa Whelchel, 'Facts of Life' Co-Stars Reunite in New Movie, Talk About Faith
"Facts of Life" costars Lisa Whelchel and Kim Fields recently reunited for a new Hallmark Channel movie, "For Better or For Worse." The two had a wonderful time working together again after some time apart and talked about their faith, which is incredibly important to both of the actresses.
"It was like old times, but really, really different," Whelchel told People. "We felt comfortable together because we're such good friends, but I can see her talent as an adult. I would watch her during a scene now and think, 'Wow, she's really good. She's so funny.' I didn't appreciate that as a kid."
"In terms of the familiarity and chemistry, it's all still there," Fields added. "It just gets better with time. Lisa is a wonderfully talented woman. I like working with talented people, and she's one of them! It helped that we keep in touch."

The two are so close that their kids refer to Whelchel as "Aunty Lisa" and Fields as "Aunt Kim." They still have a closeness that has not diminished since "Facts of Life" ended in 1988. Fields continued on in the entertainment industry and has worked on several sitcoms, while Whelchel decided to leave in order to take time out for her family. She returned to the small screen when she competed on "Survivor" and tied for second place. Whelchel has since become a spokeswoman for Christian projects and starred in several, along with releasing her own book.
"There was a grace over that set," Whelchel said of filming "Facts of Life." "That's the only way I can explain it. We had close ties with each other, and good families. And somehow, it worked."
"I hold onto the Scripture that says, 'Be anxious for nothing but in all things give thanks,'" Fields said when asked about her looks. "I'm not saying I don't have problems or that I don't worry, but I try not to be stressed. I manage my anxiety through prayer. Worry shows up on your face, and I don't want that!"
Whelchel revealed that she is starting to date again, which is something she hasn't done in quite some time. She plans to take it slow and is encouraged by working on "For Better or For Worse," which she said had a "sweet message about taking chances and starting over again. That's a really important message, and I'm happy that I could be a part of it."
