Lohan Taylor Movie 'Liz & Dick' Gets Air Date
Lifetime has announced that Lindsay Lohan's new made-for-television movie "Liz & Dick" will air on Nov. 25.
The film features the 25-year-old actress as she portrays iconic Hollywood starlet Elizabeth Taylor. Opposite of Lohan, Grant Bowler will play Taylor's husband, Richard Burton, whom she married and divorced twice.
Lohan's return to the screen is highly anticipated, as the young actress has been embroiled in legal woes in recent years. She was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for misdemeanor theft and probation violation in February 2011 after stealing a necklace from a jewelry store, and has been involved in a number of run-ins with the law this year as well.
In "Liz & Dick," Lohan will portray the rollercoaster romance between Taylor and Burton, as the film is based on a true story.
"For nearly a quarter of a century, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance- often called 'the marriage of the century'- was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day," explained the advertisement on Lifetime.com.
Lifetime also provided Lohan's response to being cast in such an important role.
"I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor," said the former Disney star. "She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role."
Many of Lohan's fans have commented on the photographs of the actress in character as Taylor and on the incredible resemblance she bears to the late "Cleopatra" actress. Also, Twitter users are sounding off about their excitement for the Nov. 25 air date of "Liz & Dick."
"I'm obnoxiously excited for Liz & Dick," read one tweet.
"They couldn't have chosen a better person to portray Liz Taylor #LizandDick," wrote Christie.
Also excited for the premiere of "Liz & Dick" was Lohan's costar Bowler, who commended the actress for her portrayal of Taylor while speaking to People magazine.
"She's pretty much Elizabeth Taylor reincarnated," said the actor and Lohan's on-screen husband. He added that Lohan was "excellent to work with" on the movie.
Following "Liz & Dick," Lohan will begin working on the film "The Canyons."
