'Love Actually' Sequel Release Date, Plot News: Hugh Grant Reprises Prime Minister Role for Short Sequel

The 2003 romantic Christmas movie, "Love Actually," is getting a sort of mini sequel and new teasers have been released for fans to enjoy.

The teasers were released through a handful of tweets from producer Emma Freud which show off several set footages and behind-the-scene takes from the project.

The short sequel is prepared ahead for United Kingdom's Red Nose Day, a biennial charity fundraiser event by Comic Relief. The short sequel is titled "Red Nose Day Actually," and it will premiere on the day of the event, March 24, on BBC One. It will then be picked up by NBC on May 25 for its U.S. release.

As of the moment, fans will just have to make do with Freud's series of Twitter posts that show off some shots of Hugh Grant on set. Grant will reprise his role as David, the Prime Minister-elect in the movie who married his sweetheart Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) from the first installment.

In a Twitter post, Freud captions a photo of Grant with, "And here he is. Our Prime Minister. Again. And still hot," while another picture showing McCutcheon is captioned, "Our pm is still married. And she's still lovely," confirming the couple's marriage, which viewers did not get to see in the first film.

Fourteen years may have passed since the release of the first film, but most of the cast and crew are set to return for the project. This includes Richard Curtis, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth and Rowan Atkinson among others.

"We've been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part — and it'll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later," Curtis previously said, according to Entertainment Weekly. The "Love Actually" director adds that he hopes they can bring in many viewers and cash for Red Nose Day.

Curtis also shared that the short sequel will show what the characters have been up to after all these years. "Who has aged best? I guess that's the big question," he says.

"Love Actually"  received positive reviews in the United Kingdom but had mixed reactions from American audiences. The film grossed over $247,950,247 in worldwide sales.
