"What an incredible journey this has been," said executive producer Matthew Weiner. "I take great pride in what the entire Mad Men team was able to create episode after episode, season after season. We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."

According to Variety, Weiner was joined by core cast members Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, January Jones, John Slattery, and Vincent Kartheiser at the press tour, and the cast talked about filming the final episodes and what fans can expect from the last season.

"There's no version of this ending that is not super-painful for me," said Hamm, who plays Don Draper in the show. "Mostly because of these people and this person. They've been the single constant in my creative life for the last decade. That's kind of tough."

Weiner kept mum about the show's final episode and no spoilers were revealed throughout the 40-minute panel interview. The actors were also asked for their reaction to the last episode. Jones said that the script initially arrived without the final 10 pages.

"It's a beautiful story," said Jones. "It's perfect in every way. I read it over and over. Sometimes I still read it."

Moss said that she was "surprised in the best way. I was really, really happy with it."

"Mad Men" will kick off its final season on Sunday, April 5 at 10 p.m. ET on AMC.
