Mars Hill Church to Open School
Mars Hill Church, the Seattle megachurch of pastor Mark Driscoll, plans to open a school this fall that hopes to eventually help develop thousands of new and existing pastors and deacons with a passion for the gospel, a love for people, and a heart for Jesus and his church.
Though believers around the world are welcome to apply for The Resurgence Training Center (Re:Train), only up to 60 students will be enrolled for the school inaugural year, the church announced this month.
The goal, however, will be to have 100 campuses in the next ten years.

"Re:Train represents a significant effort to build a lasting legacy out of the ministry of Mars Hill Church in obedience to the Great Commission," Mars Hill leaders reported. "People need Jesus, and we've been called as a church to aggressively expand the preaching of the gospel and to train other leaders to do the same."
Led by Pastor Rick Melson, Mars Hill's Campus Network leader, Re:Train offers a 36-hour graduate program that the church describes as reformed, urban, and missional.
Courses will be taught by respected theologians and practitioners such as Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Research; Bruce Ware, professor of Christian Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and John Piper, preaching pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis.
"The curriculum and educational philosophy will be unique-both practical and academic," church officials say.
Applications are due July 1, and class begins mid August.
Aside from its goal to start 100 campuses, Mars Hill looks to help plant 1,000 churchs in the next ten years in partnership with the Acts 29 Network, a network of pastors from around the nation and world.
Acts 29 describes itself as first Christian, second Evangelical, third Missional, and fourth Reformed.
