Marvel's 'Inhumans' News Updates, Details: Filming Proceeds in Hawaii

The upcoming Marvel-based series "Inhumans" is currently being filmed in Hawaii. New teaser photos were revealed by Reel News Hawaii, which managed to procure several pieces of behind-the-scene footages.

In a tweet, Reel News Hawaii captioned the teaser photos with, "'Inhumans' filming in downtown Honolulu today," adding that: "Roel Reine, Lockjaw & mystery man in black on set. Seems to take place on Oahu."

Premiering on ABC this September, the first season of "Inhumans" is only expected to have eight episodes. Its first two episodes, which were directed by Roel Reine, are also set to get an IMAX theater worldwide release.

The full cast of the upcoming show includes stars Anson Mount ("Hell on Wheels") in the lead as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan ("Graceland") as Medusa, Iwan Rheon ("Game of Thrones") as Maximus, Isabelle Cornish ("Dance Academy") as Crystal, Sonya Balmores ("Soul Surfer") as Auran, Mike Moh ("Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist") as Triton and Eme Ikwuakor ("Not Safe For Work") as Gorgon.

The Hawaii location is widely believed to portray the fictional city of Attilan, which is one of the recurring locations indicated in the Marvel comics. It seems, however, that Attilan has differing characteristics from time to time in the comics. Once it was described to be located in the Atlantic Ocean, or floating near New York, or part of the Moon.

First introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965, the "Inhumans" are introduced as a race of superhumans, each with diverse and unique superpowers. `

Their self-titled comic line only ran from 1975 to 1977, but the characters were featured from time to time in a variety of special editions and limited series releases thereafter.

The Marvel-inspired series will, however, focus on the epic adventures of Black Bolt and the rest of the royal family.

Scott Buck, the showrunner of Netflix's Marvel-based series "Iron Fist" is also running the "Inhumans" series. Premiere is expected by Sept. 26 on ABC, while the IMAX theater release will start on Sept. 1.
