'Marvel's Most Wanted' Cast News, Update: Delroy Lindo Joins Spinoff Show As Dominic Fortune
The pieces are gradually getting into place for "Marvel's Most Wanted," ABC's upcoming spinoff for its hit superhero drama TV series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
The latest casting news has arrived earlier this week, via Entertainment Weekly, indicating that the show has tapped on Delroy Lindo to play the part of a classic Marvel superhero, Dominic Fortune. Unbeknownst to modern-day fans, Fortune is the globe-trotting 1930s-style adventurer created by Howard Chaykin that made his first comic appearance in 1975.
In one of the character's earlier comic appearances, he was called on by Nick Fury to join the first Avengers Initiative. As further revealed, Fortune managed to get his hands on a copy of the Super-Soldier serum which bestowed Captain America his superhuman attributes. The effect was somehow different for the adventurer who only got his age reversed.
Rejuvenated and thirsting for more action in life, Fortune decided to join the ranks of Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird in the World Counter-Terrorism Agency during the 2010 "Hawkeye and Mockingbird" comic series.
The latest "S.H.I.E.L.D." comic series has revealed that the character has aged quite a bit since his intake of Captain America's serum. Moreover, he's been leading a quiet simple life on a river boat.
The 63-year-old's casting other TV credits includes his latest appearance in the short-lived series, "Blood & Oil."
"Marvel's Most Wanted" on the other hand, is slated to feature the acts of Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood who are currently tied in the parent series as Mockingbird and Lance Hunter, respectively.
The development of the show, which is currently in the pilot stage, will eventually prompt the two aforementioned actors to leave "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
According to Jed Whedon, in his interview with IGN, "…logistically, it does mean they're going to be leaving to make that."
"They're a part of our show. We definitely think they are capable of carrying an entire other show. That being said, it's sort of bittersweet. We're very excited about the new show," the executive producer told the publication.
