Matt Damon Is Coming Back as Jason Bourne
After the success of the Ridley Scott sci-fi film "The Martian," Matt Damon is again hoping to be part of another blockbuster this year, making his comeback as Jason Bourne. It's almost a decade when moviegoers saw him play the Robert Ludlum fictional character in "The Bourne Ultimatum" back in 2007, and based on the previous earnings of that film, this one's going to be another hit in the making.
The new movie, with the working title "Jason Bourne" confirms earlier rumors of Damon's return to the film franchise. To recall, the last time a Bourne film was made, it was Jeremy Renner who played the lead role, in the 2012 film called "The Bourne Legacy."
This will be the fifth installment of the franchise, and just like the previous ones, it revolves around the struggles of a super spy character. The first previews of the film reveal that the Central Intelligence Agency has been hacked and that the implications can be bigger than that of Snowden. In the Official Trailer, Bourne (Damon) is seen fighting with several men, doing a bike chase with Nicky Parsons (played by Julia Stiles), and one incredible scene where there is a massive car pileup in Las Vegas.
By the looks of it, the film promises yet another knockout action-packed scenes that many perceive as more exciting than James Bond spy films. Of course, this one's a rather modern and practical take of what's going on in the world of espionage and the intelligence agency.
The action spy sci-fi film, directed by Paul Greengrass, was supposed to be known as Bourne 5, but was later changed to Jason Bourne, the name of the main protagonist. Aside from Damon and Stiles, other pertinent cast members include Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, and Vincent Cassel. It is scheduled for release on July 29 via Universal Pictures.
