McDonald's Money Monopoly Returns
Spring is back and with it comes McDonald's exciting Money Monopoly. The Money Monopoly is a sweepstakes sales promotion of McDonald's and Hasbro using the latter's Monopoly board game as the theme. It will run in participating McDonald's restaurants around the United States and, this time around, will have more in store for McDonald's lovers than the past Money Monopoly in terms of individual cash winnings of which there will be four 50,000-dollar prizes. The Money Monopoly 2016, which takes off on March 29, is two-pronged: an in-restaurant game and an online sweepstakes.
McDonald's senior manager of media relations, Samantha Klein, tells TIME, "Customers can play multiple ways: by collecting game pieces in-restaurant, peeling instant win game pieces, entering the weekly Money Monopoly Online Sweepstakes at www.playatmcd.com, or redeeming offers through the McDonald's App which automatically enters customers in a weekly sweepstakes to win $50,000."
The in-restaurant game runs the promotion until April 25, 2016 (or while supplies last). Customers can win instant prizes by obtaining a Game Piece. Peeling off the cover will reveal the prize won, which is usually a free menu item. The chances of gaining a prize from a piece is one in four pieces. Around 500 million Game Pieces may be distributed during the promotion period of the Money Monopoly. A Game Piece can be obtained when buying certain McDonald's fare, including the 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, Hash Browns, McMuffin Sandwiches, Medium Fountain Drinks, Big Mac, and much more. Two Game Pieces along with four Game Stamps will be given for a purchase of specially marked 20-piece McNuggets pack and Large Fries. The in-restaurant game can also win customers cash prizes at $25 and $50, and Monopoly properties. Even more interesting is that certain Monopoly property combinations will be eligible to win $50 to one million dollars.

The online sweepstakes will go on running until May 9, 2016 and will give away a total of $200,000 in cash to four randomly selected winners (each receiving $50,000) who have registered to win at their site www.playatmcd.com. Registration for the sweepstakes can also be done via the McDonald's app. Customers and McDonald's fans even have more chances of winning at the online sweepstakes as there are five entry periods: March 29 to April 4; April 5 to April 11; April 12 to April 18; April 19 to April 25; and March 29 to May 9, 2016.
Participating locations around the U.S. include those restaurants in the 50 United States, District of Columbia, Guam, and Saipan. The Monopoly Prize Choice Promotion is also ongoing in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands (March 16 to April 26), although some mechanics may differ.
