Megyn Kelly First Week of NBC Morning Show Met With Bad Reviews, and Weak Ratings

NBC's "Megyn Kelly Today" is off to a rocky start. For its first week on air, the former FOX News anchor's morning program was blasted with tepid ratings and terrible reviews.

"Megyn Kelly Today" reportedly opened with 2.93 million viewers on Monday but the numbers took a drastic flop on the following day, which only raked in 2.4 million onlookers.

Kelly, who has turned away from talks about politics or current events to become a host of the feel-good morning show, has been called out for her rather inappropriate missteps. One of which was when she asked a member of the audience, a fan of NBC's sitcom about a gay lawyer and his friend "Will & Grace," whether it was true he became a lawyer and gay because of Will.

"Will & Grace" co-star took to social media to admit that she regretted appearing on Kelly's show.

On Wednesday's episode, she also pressed veteran actress Jane Fonda about her plastic surgery. The 79-year-old Oscar-winning actress appeared appalled, taken by surprise."We really want to talk about that now?" she snapped back, as her fellow guest Robert Redford appeared to be wishing he was elsewhere.

"We really want to talk about that now," she asked, as her fellow guest Robert Redford appeared to be wishing he was elsewhere.

On the following day, during an interview with soccer player Carli Lloyd, a cameraman accidentally got himself on camera, and to make matters worse, he cursed upon realizing the mistake.

Former "Good Morning America" host Lisa McRee believes that the awkward start is a result of turning Kelly into something she is not. She believes that it would be best for the show if the former FOX anchor returns to more serious news.

"Rather than melting her down and recasting her, I think they should have left her for the most part who she is," McRee said. "Let her do more serious news. Let her do crime stuff."

McRee believes that the most interesting segment of the show was when Kelly interviewed Lyle Menendez. The host also appeared to be in her comfort zone when she spoke with attorney Christopher Darden and the father and sister of Ron Goldman about O.J. Simpson's release.
