Microsoft Lumia 640XL Rumors, Specs: Windows-Powered Device Tipped To Come With Iris Scanner

Microsoft may have already announced its best chance to redeem itself in the operating system competition, but without a brand new device to run it, that would be useless. And so, in the past couple of weeks, there have been rumors pointing to a couple of new Lumia handsets.

While there are some speculations and rumors about the Lumia 940 flagship, a new report shed light to Microsoft's alleged high-end phablet, dubbed as the Lumia 940XL.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Windows 10-powered device would finally place the Lumias at the higher level of the smartphone food chain. Based on the report, the device will pack a 5.7-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution.

The Lumia 940XL will reportedly get an octa-core Snapdragon chipset, which is probably the latest 810 model. Earlier this year, Microsoft and Qualcomm went into an agreement in working with upcoming Lumia smartphones.

Other rumored specs include a 3GB RAM, 32GB of built-in memory, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a 3,300mAh battery. Completing the list include a 20MP primary camera, 5MP front shooter, and Windows 10 out of the box.

However, what's surprising with the Microsoft Lumia 940XL is its alleged venture into the biometric security technology. In the report, the device is rumored to sport a fingerprint sensor.

While there are already a number of alleged specs and details about the device, there are still no concrete information when and where the Redmond giant would launch the device.
